Witnessing a showdown of biblical proportions

On the way up to the summit of Haystacks, just before reaching the saddle of Scarth gap, I spotted this little tree getting flooded by the sunlight which was briefly breaking through the clouds. I quickly framed up a square composition, with the goal of accentuating the huge contrast in size and light between the foreground and the background, having Warnscale beck running diagonally through the frame.

The little tree, stripped of its leaves, as the main subject with Haystacks casting an ominous shadow against Fleetwith Pike made it feel like I was about to witness a showdown of biblical proportions…
